Bad Omen

when Line told me about the movie, it was very familiar... then i remembered...ive watched the movie before..back then Damien was played by Sam Neil. when we talked about what happened in this new remake, it was too similiar to be "nice"... bad omen..

to confirm this, i went to watch the movie :)

before i start on the contents of the movie, i must talk about this new cinema concept...

its called "thehalfpipe".

this form of cinema replaces the conventional seats with beanbags..

...yes beanbags...

they are huge! you can fit 3 very obese people on it...and thats exactly what they intend to do. we (cousin, rick and i) bought 3 tickets... our allocated seat number is 33,34,35..and to our very gay surprise all 3 numbers appeared on the same bean bag..

taking aquick glance around the room, every bean bag held two people, all of which are of the opposite sex..

so what the @$@$^#$^$&*%^*%^$ are we THREE MALES gonna do? bunk the same bag?

zOMG GHEY

we hijacked 2 other adjacent bags and prayed no one would come claiming them with their legit tickets, forcing us to return to our designated bags and gay each other about.

SO anyway...

(spoiler disclaimer dont read on if you wanna watch it)

hmmm... i gotta admit...it was pretty boring..

main scare tactics this movie employs is sudden flashes and loud noises... maybe because ive seen this show before..so it wasnt that enjoyable..

the story line, pretty straight forward too.. i dont understand why Line dont understand the movie lol..

they served you the story on a silver platter..all you gotta do is eat them up. story fits in quite well..there were no real loops and paradoxes, the PHYSICS however, was very much questionable..

alot of the materials in the movie was beyond fake..the part where the constructio worker removed the blocks anchoring the tanker was bullshit...(where is the other block?)

the way the lightning struck the LIGHTNING ROD and broke it was pretty crap as well... i mean...why would you put a lightning rod up if it would break upon lightning impact? the answer is - it wont break =/ HELLO? its designed to absorb breaks like that so it wont harm anyone or any property...

the part where the journalist was decapicated was pretty fake as well... why would the sign rotate on its bottom axis? if it would rotate in that way, it only means the metal is twisting..

at this point you must be thinking in such a jerk, why should i even bother to pay attention to this little details..

the truth of the matter is - yes the do matter.. that shows how much the scriptwriters and choreographers actually put into producing the movie, it also shows thier knowledge on the materials they work with as well.. in the case of this movie...not very well written.

back to the scare factor...id say its a 4/10.. loud noises and flashes put scary movies in the "B Grade" section.. so is overly gory scenes. not saying this one is gory, its a pretty healthy mix if i may say so.

The Omen is not scary..but its down right disturbing.. the part where Damien was casted in an Iron Maiden.. and where the "priest" dropped Thorn's original child off the building was pretty disturbing.. had my skin crawling all over me.

the part where Damien stared at Kate as she hung to the ends of the railing were pretty disturbing as well..

oh yeah and Line, the injection was not poison, it was just an air bubble. i never knew such a small pocket of air could be so devastating to a human body... like... it stopped her heartbeat almost instantaneously... another area of questionable physics. im not a med student *looks around*

nonetheless, its still pretty much, an enjoyable movie... if you havent got any show to watch lately, i would recommend this one.

6.5 - 10

It's exactly the same as the original one filmed in the 70's.

i once watched another movie n someone got killed by an air bubble goin into his/her veins, or arteries i'm not too sure. but here's wat i found when i googled "air bubble in blood".

quote:
"A: A single bubble isn’t going to do the trick.
Let’s review the blood’s circulation pattern. Blood from the body flows into the right side of the heart, then out to the lungs, back to the left side of the heart where it is pumped to the body, thus completing the circuit. The lungs are excellent filters. They trap small blood clots and injected air bubbles. In actuality, the air bubble would be shattered into microbubbles by the churning action of the right ventricle, which pumps the blood into the lungs, and these tiny bubbles would dissolve into the blood. Any bubbles that survived this “washing machine” would be filtered by the lungs."

then, there's this..
"A larger amount of air could work. Fifty to sixty CCs injected rapidly would travel into the right ventricle, where it could cut off the flow of blood. The beating heart relies upon the non-compressibility of liquids (blood in this case) to squeeze the blood out of the ventricles. Air, as are other gases, is compressible. This produces a sort of “vapor lock,” and almost instantaneous death can result."

so there u have it. gosh, the movie was boring. not worth payin for. not worth watchin. i'd pay my money to watch a thai scary movie. wat scared me in the movie was my good pal Charz screaming durin the scarier parts.. hehe not watchin any future movies with her.
