28 Days Later

I make this post with refference to one of the best virus-sourced zombie films ever made because i beleieve what we are hit with is the worst virus-sourced plague ever.

what is this plague that i am talking about??

atm i can say, havent given it a name yet but its afflicted victims fall under a mental lethargy, losing the will and strength to do.... anything basically. Assignments pile up as they tick closer to supposedly the date of completon. Lectures missed then we struggle over the net and strain our ears to listen to the bad ipod recordings of the uni CT. tutorial work, meh lets not even go there...

everyone and i mean EVERYONE is getting it! all my housemates, my friends across the Tasman Sea, even the most diligent and hardworking people within my circle are affected by it! beleieve me, its really, REALY freaky when a bookworm turns around and tells you..

"sien, dont want to study"

"o.O"!

but is this a zombie like curse? or is it some sort of awakening? for all of us students to jump out of the drudgery for a little while? free from the chains of routine and schedules. for once we are brave enough to brave through the "unknowns of handing in your assignment late", brave enough to traverse into deep academic waters where our right of passage is not guarateed...

shit...

as much as i hate it right now... off to my work i go : /

300

without any prior knowledge to 300... just listening to the title or reading it if you have no friends to tell you or asked you to go to the cinema to watch this fabulous movie; i can imagine one being at a total lost.

"wanna watch 300?"
"300 what?"

something like that...

right at the start of the movie, it being set in... pre-medieval times, anyone who is not a complete historical bigot would know that its a time of bloodshed, an era of mayhem and an age of war, therefore one would expect a tremendous amount of violence, well actually as much violence as the Australian Broadcast Association Commitee would allow...

which is alot...

...compared to other places in the world.

But "Violence" isnt the new kid around the block in the neighbourhood cinema, compared to its sibling "Sex". As we all know Violence has somewhat been more "accepted" than its less bloody counterpart (argueable), there is this on-going debate on who whould be crowned "the most tabooed-of-them-all"? which of the one in "Sex and Violence" is the lesser evil? which one? is worse than the other?

well in truth they are both as bad and should be banned from the cinemas altogether.

HOWEVER thats not the way Hollywood sells its productions, because over the years, people up in the production line has funded scientists, sociologists, phychologists, doctors, engineers, architects, economists and every other profession you can think of; to figure out what-sells-a-movie-most?

and after years of research this is what theyve come up with...

Controversy(Sex + Violence) = $$$

but theres always a bad side to anything thats good.
many conservatives argued that films with sexual scenes and violence had induced its viewers with a dose of all that is evil, namely commiting adultery and assault-like behaviour towards other fellow humans. (victims are often children or minors)

just like Marilyn Manson and other heavy metal bands taking the head of the mallet whnever theres a school shooting.

So the cencorship board took measures...by blotting out or cutting out frames which contained such material. but to my surprise its usually the reels with Sex that goes under the knife, not so much the Violence anymore.

again we come back to the debate of Sex v Violence.

what ive noticed from my friends in Malaysia is that ALL the Sex scenes from 300 have been removed completely, even nudity (female only of course), wherelse not a single drop of blood spilled by blade or spear was removed...

so im assuming the cencorship board of msia had deemed sex to be more, inappropriate... and as a body with authority and power they should do whatever they see fit to protect its subjects. protecting them from possible adultery?

but the rampaging, slashing dude should continue to exist?

It worries me. not that the malaysian society is too conservative to accept nudity, nor the fact that they are "protecting" its subjects against a phantom menace...

...but what it had preffered to allow its subjects to see...

Malaysian Parliament Blasts Clarkson For Comments On Their CarsPosted April 5th, 2007 at 01:03 GMT by Viper007Bond in Top Gear
Oh, this is just too funny. From BBC News:
Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson has come under attack in the Malaysian parliament for labelling one of the country’s cars the worst in the world.
The BBC presenter has been filmed attacking the Perodua Kelisa with a sledgehammer before blowing it up.
But minister Abdul Raman Suliman defended the nation’s car industry, saying Mr Clarkson was like a football commentator who cannot play football.
He told MPs, Perodua had not received a single complaint from British owners.
He added that the comments were made merely to boost sales of the Top Gear magazine.
‘Soulless’
Mr Clarkson has voiced his frustrations with the small three-cylinder model in both magazine articles and on the Top Gear motoring show.
In one article, he said its name was like a disease and suggested it was built in jungles by people who wear leaves for shoes.
And on the show, he described it as “unimaginative junk, with no soul, no flair and no passion”.
He then smashed it, hung it from a crane with a one-tonne weight attached, before blowing it up.
Perodua is Malaysia’s second national carmaker and began producing small compact models in 1995.

---------------------------------------------------------------

well, we all know Jeremy Clarkson has a "flair" for dissin people where it hurts most but in my honest opinion, malaysian car makers Perodua and Proton deserves every bit of it....

if you ask me, "a football commentator who couldnt play football" is the same as "built in jungles by people who wear leaves for shoes". this football anology the malaysian minister adopted is mimicking Jeremy's style of humour, just like malaysian car industries- "designing" cars that are mimicked from others.

the malaysian minister also said the comments made by Jeremy were merely used to boost sales in the magazine. im guessing he accused Jeremy of using slanderous words and cheap criticism to boost sales of his magazine. then let me draw upon the malaysian car industry as an example too;

proton and perodua resorts to cheap car parts, shoddy workmanship, materials of questionable quality and faulty car designs to minimize the producion cost but yet sell their cars at market price. isnt it, JUST to earn more revenue?

please... look at yourself before turning outwards...

"unimaginative junk, with no soul, no flair and no passion" -Jeremy Clarkson
/signed by me.

and i'll end with another quote from Jeremy Clarkson, cant remember how it goes but it runs along these lines,

"Dont buy a car where the makers made the car because they want to sell it; Buy a car where the makers made the car because they want to make a good car..."

"Versus"

Versus (Latin: against, and often written in Italics) is used in legal and general language to mean "against" or "opposed to", as in "John Doe versus Richard Roe", and is often abbreviated to v. (with the punctuation point) or vs (without the point).

well, im sure the meaning of the word does not confine itself to just the legal system. Im sure most of us, well those of you who are in the same generation as me has come in contact with the spawing if fighting games- Street Fighter series, King of Fighters, Tekken just to name the few.

The use of the word "versus" is not uncommon in the context constructed above. in fact, Those are rather common.

But the word "Versus" used as a song title then, its quite unorthodox until recently. with the new musicians dubbed "DJ"s, many artistic creations whose creators improvised on other DJ's songs to create a new breed of music, and it's title often contains the word "Versus".

Darude Vs Tiesto etc..you get the drift...

The "defendant's" songs are often challeneged by the "appelant", where the beat would be changed half way through the song, or the bass... or some elements within the song, even the message of the song all fall as potential prey to the challenger

Some of the songs are alright...but some are just plain absurd. oh well, Theres no better way to express this absurdity than to show IT to you.

for example,

"..dance-to-the-cocaine-lsd-ecstacy, dance-to-the-cocaine follow me-dance with me, dance with the cocaine-lsd-ecstacy-dance to the cocaineDONT-DO-DRUUUUUUUUUGSSSSSSS...."

My generation ..
