Anger at Al Hilaly's 'uncovered meat' remarks12:18 PM October 26

A senior Muslim cleric has drawn criticism for reportedly preaching that some women are attracting sexual assault by the way they dress and their actions.
Sheikh Taj el-din Al Hilaly is reported as saying that women who do not wear the hijab, or headdress, are like uncovered meat.
The quotes, taken from a sermon the cleric made in Sydney last month, are published in The Australian today.
The ABC has been unable to contact Sheikh Al Hilaly, but an associate Keysar Trad, says the mufti's comments have been taken out of context.
"He wasn't talking about rape in any way," Mr Trad said.
"He wasn't talking about standard norms of dress in Australia or any country, he wasn't talking about the hijab, he was talking about people who engage in extramarital sex.
But the Federal Sex Discrimination Commissioner and New South Wales Liberal Party candidate, Pru Goward, does not believe the Sheikh can backtrack over his comments.
She says he could be guilty of incitement to the crime of rape, and he should be deported.
"On that basis he can, if his visa arrangements are appropriate, be deported," Ms Goward said.
"I would strongly urge the Islamic leadership to ask him to go, we would all support that.
"There is a pattern of these statements, we are a tolerant people but incitement to the crime of rape is not acceptable."
'Flabbergasted'

A former member of the Federal Government's Muslim Advisory board, Iktimal Hage-Ali, says Sheikh Al Hilaly should be stripped of his position.
Ms Hage-Ali has heard a recording of a speech made by the Sheikh last month, in which he said women can be blamed for attracting sexual assault if they do not dress appropriately.
She says she is disgusted by the comments.
"When it comes to adultery 90 per cent of the blame is on a woman," she said.
"If a woman puts powder on her face and puts lipstick [on] and struts her stuff then she should be held at fault, if a man comes and attacks her and then that analogy about meat and cats. I was just flabbergasted."
The Australian Federal Police (AFP) Commissioner, Mick Keelty, says the furore over comments attributed to the Sheikh may damage relations with the Islamic community.
Commissioner Keelty says the Sheikh's comments could cause links with the Islamic community to be strained.
"What we're trying to do is work closely with the Islamic community - all of us - and understand them better and I guess this just, you know, doesn't help that cause," Commissioner Keelty said.
Political condemnation
The Treasurer Peter Costello has also condemned the reported comments by Sheikh Al Hilaly.
Speaking on Channel 7, Mr Costello said the Muslim community must condemn the comments and take action against the Sheikh.
"If you have a significant religious leader like this preaching to a flock in a situation where we've had gang rapes, in a way that seems to make it justifiable, or at least lighten the dehumanising and degrading extent of the offence, then people that listen to that kind of comment can get the wrong idea," Mr Costello said.
Federal Opposition Leader Kim Beazley says the remarks are offensive and the mufti should apologise for them.
"They are offensive and they should be retracted by him, they should be retracted immediately," Mr Beazley said.
"Those offensive statements should not be permitted to stand."Source: ABC

Sheikh will step aside, Muslim colleague says9:47 AM October 30
An open letter has been sent to senior Sydney Muslim cleric Sheikh Taj El-din Al Hilaly, asking him to step aside from his position as the leader of Australia's largest Muslim congregation.
Last night a meeting was held behind closed doors by the Lebanese Muslim Association (LMA), which runs the main mosque in Sydney's south-west.
Already Sheikh Al Hilaly has been asked not to preach for three months, after it was revealed he had compared some women to uncovered meat during a sermon.

Dr Jamal Rifi is a close friend of the Sheikh and founder of Muslim Doctors Against Violence.
Dr Rifi sent the letter and says he thinks the Sheikh will step aside.
"I have no doubt whatsoever," he said.
"He knows where I stand, he knows where he stands and he has no option whatsoever but to put the interests of the community and society."

I cant believe ideas like these still exist... let alone in Australia.. since i was a kid, i've been furious at the laws some countries tried to pass.. things like..

"if a woman was raped and has sought for legal advice, the counsel cannot assist her further unless there are three MALE witnesses to the assault, has been identified."

dude, whuatthefuck?

"...reportedly preaching that some women are attracting sexual assault by the way they dress and their actions." attracting..sexual...assault?
and also, the defense used by the prosecuted included things like

"i am not to blame for my 'actions' because it was the way the plaintif has dressed up (uncovered meat) that has enticed me to do what i did."

yes ladies and gentlemen we're talking about rape here. and with that regard, you can go get fucked by some animal and die in a fire... you're no less than an animal and certainly no more than one either. that is seriously, the MOST PATHETIC defense anyone can think of.

"The ABC has been unable to contact Sheikh Al Hilaly, but an associate Keysar Trad, says the mufti's comments have been taken out of context."He wasn't talking about rape in any way," Mr Trad said. "

O RLY?

"He wasn't talking about standard norms of dress in Australia or any country, he wasn't talking about the hijab, he was talking about people who engage in extramarital sex."

Rolfcopter, that is like, putting an omlette and a fire truck together, then saying the both compliment each other.

not talking about the hijab eh?
"Sheikh Taj el-din Al Hilaly is reported as saying that women who do not wear the hijab, or headdress, are like uncovered meat."

red handed!

i can never understand how people like this dude, being such a sexist, can climb to a position that high in a religious organization.. i cannot understand a religion that would prosecute half of their members even till today, to the extent they cannot show their "meat" either.

seriously, reroll plz.

Substance Abuse

An Intoxicating Sip,
A Mind Numbing Gulp,
A sinful Dip
of sauce,
That would make your conscience pulp.

The Unmistakenable Click,
Followed by Brimstone Breath,
Such comfort from the poisoned Lick,
Though it,
The destroyer of Breadth.

Real Hallucinations,
From the Snow-white Snort,
Fake Complications,
From a Mind-state short.

Crystal clear Crystals,
On a Needle Tip,
Even with them Brain Blisters,
Rake and Claw till Reality Rips.

Not so Heroic now
our Hero and Heroin stand,
Deprived of their Heroic deeds,
Since their motives Bend.

Substance to Substance,
Drug to Drug.
Questionable Actions,
and the mind-tormenting fuck.

All the Substances Horses,
and all the Substances Men,
Couldnt be as Intoxicating
As this woman can.

Hope Not...

[some movies i highly recommend-in no particular order, Silent Hill, I Not Stupid 2 (Singaporean movie) and The Last Castle. please catch them if you can]

so back to my main post.

I attended a philosophy lecture the other day with Tine...
the lecture was about suffering, and the facilitator said, there are three things/words that usually rouse one's suffering. they are "should've, would've and could've.

thoughts or conversations that contain either one of these 3 words are usually the remorseful type.. theres always the shadow of regret.

such as..

"you could've called..."
"i should've studied harder..."
"he would've known..."

these things are usually the thoughts about others or themselves and they definately took them for granted, but when things didnt swing their way, suffering follows.

those 3 words can be summarized into 1 word - Hope.

i know this post will be very cynical and pessimistic, but its a phase im going through at the moment and i would like to share it out.

"Hope is the only but the 1st step to a million dissapointments" i got that somewhere somehow, but it resonates heavily within myself atm..

and another quote - "they say in a relationship there is one that loves more than the other." and i really hope it isnt me. selfish? maybe..but hear me out..

im a self consuming lover, i can love someone so much i become a burden to myself. i channel these destructive energies upon myself by mutilating and hurting myself so no one else gets hurt. it is really unhealthy and it may be the death of me someday.

so deciding not to love, might just be my survival ticket..

or...

i can love and hope for nothing in return. that is the fabled "unconditional love" only parents are capable of carrying out to their children..
makes me appreciate my parents even more whenever i think about that.

before anything else, thank you Dad and Mom, sure isnt easy being you guys. there is a definition of love somewhere in the bible as well... Corinthians 13 if im not mistaken, which Iris/Asta/Maria reminded me about, and i find that the closest to the truth of what love really is. i am unable to provide you with that verse atm, because i dont have a bible with me, i am not a christian either.

i have not achieved that state of enlightenment where i can provide unconditional love, but i can try...

Chinese M’sians must accept their lot
FN
Sep 26, 06 6:11pm

Lee Kuan Yew's recent controversial remark has stirred a new round of sabre rattling between Malaysian and Singapore politicians. Does Lee understand Malaysia's situation well enough to make such a remark? Even if he does, what right does he have to criticise Malaysia? Aren't Malay Singaporeans marginalised too?

Malaysia's success in the international arena in both business and technology has no doubt become a threat to Singapore. By making such controversial remarks, is Lee hoping more Chinese Malaysians would hate their country and join Singapore? Don't forget that Singapore is facing problems with the lack of population growth.

Are Chinese being marginalised in Malaysia? This is not a new issue. No one in Malaysia has ever brought up the issue so prominently because it is a sensitive issue in this country. The Malays have been given bumiputera status in Malaysia, meaning that the ‘sons of soil’ should be given priority in terms of political and financial interests. Not to forget, Chinese are only immigrants.

With the help of the New Economy Policy in the past 35 years, I would say the Malays have slowly gained back something that has long belonged to them. What's wrong with this? I feel that the government should further restrict the economic interests of the Chinese because there are just not enough wealthy Malays in the country to bring about a balance in wealth distribution.

I am surprised that some Chinese Malaysians have publicly supported Lee's remarks despite that the MCA leader has rejected them. We can see that the MCA leader is not capable of “stopping” his own people.

If he cannot do that, he has no prospect of representing the Chinese. If the Chinese are able to have big houses and multiple cars, which most of the Malays do not have, why are they still not satisfied? What more do they want?

Recently, the MCA vice-president, who is also the higher education deputy minister, publicly pointed out possible corruption in the repair work of a Chinese school, which was handled by the Works Ministry. I hereby demand that this minister be sacked immediately.

First, no one should question the integrity of other cabinet ministers publicly. Second, by saying such things, the MCA minister did not care about the feelings of other ministers in the Education Ministry, who have approved the funding of the project.

No one should question how the project was awarded and how the funds were used as all these had already been endorsed by the ministers. The MCA minister has brought great damage to the current system by asking for transparency. The contractors who had been awarded government projects will not forgive this minister if they are being scrutinised stricter in future projects, especially when this result in them not being able to make profit out of the projects.

The MCA minister should mind his own business. Minding someone else's business means ‘eating’ in other people's territory. If this minister is not sacked, the works minister should write to the prime minister for his intervention. If not, this will set a detrimental precedent which forces a lot of Malays out of businesses as "we rather be mocked by others than have our stomach empty", to quote Umno Youth deputy chief Khairy Jamaluddin.

In short, Malaysia is a multi-racial society and only with the continuous strengthening of the Malay political and financial interests that it can be harmonious and prosperous country. Whether the Chinese are being marginalised or not is not important. The Chinese just have to accept the fact that living in Malaysia means they have to be subordinate to the ‘sons of the soil’.

Centripetal Acceleration

my physics is rusty...so is my spelling..

you know what a bola is? those round things attached to a base by a string... acceleration of the base causes the round thing to move but its held together by the string..so the only way the ball could move, is in circles..

forever bounded by the string...

now that is a sad ball..hes going no where..

/gets scissors

/cuts string

/ball flies out

free....

at last....
